About Me

Biography: This is Mrs. DePalma's 15th year at HMR.  She is a graduate of Ramapo College of New Jersey with a BA in Communication Arts.  She worked for many years in New York City in television production, until she had the wonderful opportunity to be home to raise her family.  During this time, Mrs. DePalma pursued her teacher's certification. Additionally, Mrs. DePalma holds a Masters degree in Curriculum and Instruction from William Paterson University, with a concentration in Early Childhood Education. Mrs. DePalma has taught Pre-K, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grades. In addition, Mrs. DePalma and her husband are the proprietors of a summer camp for the past 25 years.  Mrs. DePalma and her husband have three wonderful boys. 

Teaching Philosophy:  Mrs. DePalma believes children learn best when they are part of a caring, nurturing respectful classroom community. She feels that the essential role of the teacher is to have a highly personalized approach to teaching without compromising the core curriculum standards, always adapting the curriculum to the ever changing needs of the children. Mrs. DePalma's classroom is a hands-on, student driven, learning environment that promotes independence, critical thinking and problem solving. In addition, Mrs. DePalma feels that parent partnership is crucial to the success of every child. Mrs. DePalma is a life-long learner that continues to grow and learn from her colleagues and students.
